Nicole Merrifield was born, Carol Elizabeth Theis, on November 28, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. The youngest of three sisters, she studied theatre and literature in New York City. Nicole was a world traveler who, with her husband, made Liberty her home in 1999. She had a deep love for nature, a wonderful sense of humor, an eye for a bargain and a great appreciation for the art of a home cooked meal. Nicole passed from this life Thursday, February 9, 2017 at her residence.
Nicole suffered from Bi-Polar disease and its effects on her family throughout her life. In midlife she came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and took great joy and comfort in his loving promise of an eternal life with him in Heaven.
Nicole is survived by her husband, Edgar Bartholomew Merrifield; her sisters, Lori Pierce and Kathy Lazano of Liberty, SC; her children, Moriah C. Merrifield, V. Eliott Umphrey and Gabrielle U. Mottern; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grand-baby.
