Franklin Sobin, 89, formerly of Blue Hills Trail in Pickens, died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Simpsonville Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Born in Irvington, New Jersey, Mr. Sobin was a son of the late John and Emma MacDonald Sobin. He proudly served his country throughout his career in the armed services, starting with the Merchant Marines during WWII and later in the U.S. Army where he served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War and retired as a Staff Sergeant.
Surviving are a sister, Carolyn Schmidt of Seneca and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a 3 brothers, John “Jack” Sobin, Leonard Sobin and Ronald Sobin; and 2 sisters, Grace Bunt and Ruth Quinn.
Interment with military honors will take place at a later date at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
